The company was founded on August 27, 1906 on the heels of the devastating fire and earthquake that leveled San Francisco. A young real estate agent, Colbert Coldwell saw the need for honest, knowledgeable real estate services to help the city rebuild. As the company grew, he hired Arthur Banker as a member of his sales staff. The two businessmen eventually formed a partnership, and in 1914 the real estate company known as Coldwell Banker was born.

From its beginnings, Coldwell Banker has grown to become one of the premier residential real estate organizations in the world. Coldwell Banker was founded on a commitment to professionalism and customer service that continues to be the core of its business philosophy today.
